Posted by lcdrepair on September 19, 2011

This is to inform you how you can replace an lcd screen of an hp pavilion dv7 laptop computer.

Note: Please disconnect any power supply connection, along with the laptop battery prior to doing the replacement.

1. Remove all the screws and screw-cover on the lcd plastic frame.

2. Snap out the plastic frame from the lcd screen casing. Please be cautious not to put on much pressure on the bezel so as not to damage it.

3. Remove the inverter board as well as the connections that are connected to it. These are the data cable and high voltage wires which connect to the lcd backlight.

4. Now, take out the screws that holds the lcd screen to the back cover. Likewise take extra attention to never pull it hard because there are still connector wires attached to the rear of the monitor. You should remove the tiny connector just right underneath the lower section of the display screen. It is the wire that connects to a built-in camera and the other end connects to the system board.

5. After you remove the video camera connection, you will have to remove the data ribbon cable being connected to the backside of the display screen.

6. At this point you already removed the display screen. Be advised to get the correct part number of your LCD. You can get OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts that may not be exactly like your original part number but will still work. Always inquire the dealer if it’s 100% compatible with your p/n.

7. The rest is straight forward. To be able to install the new part, all you need to do is to retrace your actions. (Tip: It is definitely a good idea to take photos of the actions in order that there is a excellent visual guide if you overlook any step.
